The Benefits of having a Sports Massage are widely known. Listed below are just a few;
- Relief from fatigue
- Faster recovery from micro damage and trauma during workouts.
- Reduced injury healing time
- Increased flexibility of muscles and joints.
- Restore muscular balance
Sports massage is an effective and beneficial form of massage therapy. Muscular tension and soft tissue injuries cause pain and dysfunction. They can be treated safely and effectively with massage, preventing the build up of scar tissue and decreasing the likelihood of further injury.
Sports massage is not only for those who exercise regularly. Occupational and repetitive activities, including computer work and gardening often cause our muscles to tighten and shorten. This results in discomfort. Massage can be used to treat these problems.
Stress can be caused from many things, often leading to depression. A relaxing massage can help with this, calming the sympathetic nervous system down allowing your muscles to realign, releasing those feel good hormones.
If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
