Jackie Townsend - phoenix acupuncture clinic
20 Longfellow Road
My name is Jackie Townsend and I practise acupuncture and teach yoga one-to-one and in small groups, from my home in Worthing, under the name phoenix acupuncture clinic in West Sussex.
Acupuncture is based on simple, logical principles and has been practised for thousands of years. Something which has been around that long must be considered effective. Chinese medicine is founded on the balance of yin and yang, in one’s life as well as in the body, and the movement of qi or life force. Yin and yang are opposites and mutually interdependent and we are healthy, energised and enthusiastic when we have a reasonable balance. This is equilibrium and is highly desirable!
Acupuncture is a holistic medicine, which means that treatment is aimed towards the person, including the condition they have brought, for example stress, problems with sleep or digestion etc, and not just the condition itself.
I also offer Facial Revitalisation with Acupuncture, see below for prices and my website for more details.
Please see my website (address above) for more details.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained in acupuncture at The International College of Oriental Medicine in East Grinstead, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Acupuncture. This was a three year full-time training, plus a dissertation and included training and qualifying in Swedish Massage. This training now takes four years full-time. After graduating I taught at the College for five years.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and this membership includes full public liability insurance plus Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct which members must follow and adhere to. I undertake regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
I have been practising since 1990, with a break of roughly 6 years between 1998 and 2004. This length of time has given me a wide range of experience of people and their issues and this has been excellent. I like people and am always interested in what they bring with them.
The cost of the initial consultation and first treatment is £50. This usually takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. Subsequent treatments cost £40 and take about 40 minutes.
I also offer Facial Revitalisation with Acupuncture, which takes 1 hour and costs £50. A course would be 6 treatments, which is essential, at least to begin with, and this costs £275, a saving of £25.
I also teach yoga, the Scaravelli method, one-to-one, and often incorporate this into treatments as it can be enormously helpful. I will be teaching classes in the fairly near future and will update this profile when that happens.
If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies, treatments or making any major changes in your diet or exercise programme.
