Osteopathy is a manual therapy that can have beneficial effects for a wide range of patients from the very young and their parents to the seniors, the whole family in fact! Osteopaths are known for treating a number of conditions, such as;
- Arthritis, in the hands, knees and hips
- Acute and chronic neck and back pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Sprained ankles and flat feet
- Headaches, including migraines
- Shoulder injuries, such as frozen shoulder
Patients have also found osteopathy helpful for a variety of problems such as digestive issues, circulatory problems, neurological pain and problems sleeping and for many other conditions. Osteopathy also complements other forms of healthcare, alternative and traditional. If you are unsure whether Osteopathy is suitable for you, please book a 15 minute free consultation.
Osteopathy works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the belief that the well-being of an individual depends on all the different components of the body functioning smoothly together. It uses a variety of techniques such as touch, physical manipulation, stretching, massage and cranial osteopathy to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.
Training, qualifications & experience
Having been treated by an osteopath since I was very small for sinus problems (6 days old in fact!), I decided to investigate becoming an osteopath myself. In 2015 I graduated from The European School of Osteopathy after 4 years with an Integrated Master’s degree in Osteopathy, encompassing 2 years clinical practice with a range of patients including mothers and babies. More recently I have been practicing in London, Chichester and Fishbourne.
All osteopaths are required to be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) who check that the practitioner has current professional indemnity insurance, remains in good health and of good character, and has met mandatory continuing professional development requirements.
