About me

Better With Bowen offers the best of care to those in pain.  I am one of the oldest and most experienced physical therapist in the area with a high success rate of satisfied patients.  Not only will I treat you with Bowen therapy, I will help you with posture, tailored exercise to suit you, as well as useful information and knowledge to help you to recover quicker and help to keep you on a path of optimum wellbeing.

By contacting Better With Bowen, I can help you - more often than not - where so many others have failed.

A gentle yet extremely effective technique, this unique therapy has the ability to change your life for the better by freeing you of pain, stiffness and discomfort.  Generally only a few treatments are needed.  You don't need to get undressed as I am able to work over light clothing.

I can treat many conditions whether a new injury or a complaint of long standing, not only just musculo-skeletal, such as back pain, sciatica and frozen shoulder, but also conditions such as migraine, digestive and bowel ailments and sleep problems.

This natural and gentle therapy is suitable to use on babies (for complaints like colic) as well as the frail or elderly.  The effectiveness of this technique makes it increasingly the preferred choice for treating sports injuries and repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and not only will I treat you, I will also help you to help yourself.

You may rest assured that both the clinics I work from keep high levels of hygiene and adhere to all the Covid-19 prevention guidelines.

I cover a wide area in Lancashire working in clinics in Colne and Accrington, as well as providing home and workplace visits.  Clinics have hydraulic couches for your ease and comfort, and if you can't lie on a couch, I can treat you just as effectively with you standing up or sitting down.

Please visit my website www.BetterWithBowen.co.uk which will give you a far better understanding.  I've also included various videos about Bowen therapy there for you to view..

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an Advanced practitioner in the original Bowen Technique accredited by BOWTECH and registered as a professional Bowen therapist with The Bowen Association U.K.
I am registered also with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council), the only organisation set up with government funding covering alternative therapies and there for the public's assurance.

As well as attending relevant workshops, lectures and events I enjoy to research and study, which I mainly do during the cold and grim months of the year.  All this extra learning and skill-honing helps patients not only when they come for treatment, but also in the information I am able to pass on that will help them to not only gain quicker results but also help to remain pain free.

Further information

Although I see most of my clients during the normal working day, I am aware that for some that is not practical and so offer evening appointments in the Colne Treatment Room.

If you telephone me but I am not there to take your call, please just leave your name and contact number and I will get back to you.  If you email me, please be aware that I do not check my emails on a daily basis. though I do try to do so at least twice a week!

Better With Bowen has recently joined Facebook so please look me up and let your friends know.  Though.... as you'll notice, I'm not good at keeping on with generalised comments on this open platform.  But don't let this put you off - I am much more communicative face to face and instead of being generalised, the focus will be on you.

Please just phone me for more information or to book an appointment,

If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have a pre-existing medical condition, please consult your GP for advice before starting any new therapies.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Therapist's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Therapist to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Please let the clinic know if you are arriving in a wheelchair so that ramps may be ready to put in place. Please note that the Colne clinic has not got a downstairs lavatory. Both clinics have free parking nearby
