I am a Bobath trained senior physiotherapist and have enjoyed specialising in neurology for the last 23 years. I now head up a team of therapists, all of whom have been qualified for over 7 years and, like me, specialise in neurology. I lead the team training sessions as well as working in joint sessions with all of my teams' patients on a regular basis.
The service we offer is a home visit, whether that is in our patients own home or in nursing or residential homes. You will also find us at the local gyms with some of our more able patients!
When I am not treating my own patients or working with my team, I am lecturing to qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists nationally. The lectures are often bespoke, having been designed and developed with the learning needs of the staff attending in mind. The lectures are intended for therapists of all levels working with people with neurological deficits, but those working in other areas of expertise often attend.
If I am not lecturing or treating patients, I am working in a consultant capacity in the NHS with physiotherapists and occupational therapists in Derby providing in service training and trouble-shooting sessions for complex patients.
Finally, if I am not treating, lecturing or training......... you just might catch me taking my dog for a walk around the village in which I live!
