I am a Registered Shiatsu Practitioner (fully qualified and insured) with the Shiatsu Society (UK)and adhere to their Code of Ethics and Professionalism. I have been giving Shiatsu since 1996. In addition, I am a Life Coach, 'Birthing from Within' Childbirth Mentor and mother of two young children.

After graduating from a 3 year Shiatsu Practitioners course at The Shiatsu College (London), one of the leading national Shiatsu Schools, I subsequently completed a Diploma Course (Part I/II/III) in ' Shiatsu for Maternity' with Suzanne Yates of Wellmother.

I love the feeling that my clients and I are working together as a team to help their body, mind and emotions to come back into the balance that feels right for them. Each Shiatsu session is a journey of discovery as every Shiatsu is unique. Each individual's consultation, feedback and diagnosis inform the treatment given.

My clients have come from a wide range of backgrounds including city workers, pregnant ladies and international celebrities. I have given Shiatsu in a variety of settings including Greenwich Natural Health Centre, Immune Development Trust, the Active Birth Centre, The Treasury, pamper evenings, school and corporate events.
I currently offer Shiatsu from my home clinic in Bickley, Bromley; do home visits and come to events.

I have a special interest in supporting women through the physical and emotional aspects related to

• times of transition and change, • stress, • menstrual problems, • miscarriage, • menopause • preconception, pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period.

As our lives become increasingly busy, Shiatsu also provides an opportunity for clients to feel nurtured and to reconnect with their own needs.  In doing so, clients often feel reenergised and invigorated as body, mind and emotions come more into balance.

My introduction to Shiatsu was whilst I was studying for my final Chartered Accountancy exams (a lifetime ago!). I was experiencing some of the classic symptoms of stress - insomnia, anxiety, muscular tensions and an inability to focus coupled with feeling down a lot of the time. In an effort to regain some balance in my life I had taken to trying out random therapies.

When I came for my first Shiatsu, I remember laying on the futon, dressed in loose clothes, thinking that this was already quite different to other therapies I’d tried. The whole one hour treatment was amazing. By the end of the session, I was feeling less like a jigsaw of disconnected pieces and more like a bar of melted Galaxy chocolate!

That experience set me on a path very different to the one I had started on. The more I discovered about Shiatsu, the more the idea of becoming a Shiatsu Practitioner resonated. It felt like I was ‘coming home’.

Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing therapeutic form of bodywork, originating in Japan, which treats the whole person on a physical, mental and emotional level.  It aims to support and strengthen the natural ability of our body to heal and balance itself. In addition to treating specific conditions, it is also an effective way to maintain and promote good health.

The receiver wears loose, light clothing throughout the treatment and no oils are used.

Shiatsu may help to alleviate a variety of conditions including:
- backache
- shoulder and neck pain
- general muscular tensions
- headaches
- digestive problems
- low energy levels
- insomnia
- anxiety
- mood swings
- lethargy
- lack of focus and feeling 'pulled on all directions'

Each treatment may be gentle or deep and include a range of techniques and approaches depending on the individual such as...

• relaxed perpendicular pressure along specific energy channels and acupuncture points using palms, fingers, thumbs and occasionally elbows or knees. • stretching to stimulate circulation and encourage the release of tensions and stimulate • percussion techniques to invigorate

At the end of the Shiatsu session, you may feel relaxed and invigorated as deep seated physical and emotional tensions are released.

Recommendations appropriate to the individual may be given.
