The Alexander Technique is about learning to let go of the muscular tensions that maybe limiting your ability to move freely or creating dis -comfort or dis-ease in your body. Its about letting go of the habits of a life-time to find freedom and ease within your body and mind...to allow yourself to function in the way you were designed to - with perfect poise, balance, coordination and ease. Everyone of any age can benefit from this!
I work from a teaching room at my home in Forest Row, offering 1-1 individual Alexander lessons, evening classes and groups. I also offer 'Alexander, Voice and Breath workshops', both in the south of England and in Scotland, exploring how the releasing of habitual tensions can enhance singing, speaking and breathing. I also run workshops in Ham (Richmond). I have a holistic, eclectic and creative approach to my teaching and work with much depth and sensitivity. All individual lessons are tailor-made to the needs of each 'pupil'. (Please see below for further details.). I work with children and adults of all ages. Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 1989, graduating from Fellside Alexander School. Since then I have worked extensively with individuals and groups and also taught on several Alexander Teacher-training programmes. I have taught in drama schools, in a breast cancer clinic and worked with many musicians, horse riders, performers as well as working with people challenged by a wide range of physical aches and pains, joint/ back complaints, breathing difficulties and people recovering from surgery or from childbirth. I have also developed ways of working with people who are experiencing some form of trauma, the effects of shock or who are going through a life-changing situation. Lessons are fully clothed. In addition to being an Alexander teacher, I am also an accredited Journey practitioner and run acappella choirs and workshops. My work with singing, alongside teaching the Alexander Technique has resulted in my also offering workshops and 1-1 sessions to address vocal and respiratory use.
I am a teaching member of Alexander Technique International (A.T.I)
