About me

Daren practises in Fleet and Odiham, where he treats a wide range of medical conditions using Traditional Acupuncture and Western Herbal Medicine, used alone or in combination. Daren with his experience in the use of orthodox drugs, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements and the practise of acupuncture is well placed to treat patients with a variety of health concerns with successful results.

The holistic approach of Traditional Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine will help to safely and naturally restore the proper functioning of the body. Treatment is tailor-made for each patient, based on their medical history, constitution and presenting complaint.

Acupuncture is Energy Medicine

Energy medicine at its foundation is a form of medicine that helps to rebalance the body’s impaired “energy fields” found in disease and ill-health. Acupuncture, using needles, moxa and/or cupping influences these natural healing energies to release blockages e.g. muscle tension or mental depression or to restore energies to organs that have become weak or out of balance e.g. dysfunction of the stomach or ovaries. Likewise, herbal medicine also stimulates these innate vital forces to promote healing and specific herbs have particular affinities to different tissues and organs

Powerful, Effective and Safe

In the West Acupuncture has been misleadingly published as being good only for specific conditions such as for pain or fertility issues. In fact, due to its power to stimulate our own healing responses, it is effective for a wide range of conditions. Please check my website for a comprehensive list of conditions that can be helped by Acupuncture.

Herbal medicine can treat similar problems and has a more nourishing and strengthening effect in conditions such as menstrual and menopausal problems, skin conditions and digestive issues. Herbal medicine can also reinforce treatment with Acupuncture.

Training, qualifications & experience

Acupuncture
Daren qualified from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine with a degree in Acupuncture (BSc) and Licentiate in Acupuncture (LicAc) in 2009. I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) alongside Five Elements Acupuncture that included the understanding of Chinese medical theory with in-depth practical training on the channels and points of the acupuncture network. Importantly this study included extensive clinical training and I was especially fortunate to be supervised by the eminent acupuncturist, John Hicks.

Medical Herbalism
Daren studied at the School of Herbal Medicine (Phytotherapy) and graduated in 1996. Not only did this course provide an excellent training in the safe use of herbal medicine but also in nutrition and Western medical diagnosis

Pharmacy
Daren's first degree is in Pharmacy (BPharm) where he obtained a first class degree from King's College, London in 1987. He worked as a pharmacist in community pharmacy for 19 years.

Daren is committed to on-going professional development and continues to update his knowledge and skills by attending various postgraduate courses
Daren is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) and National Institute of Medical Herbalists (MNIMH). These professional bodies guarantee the highest standards of training, care and professionalism.
