Camilla East - CC Speech And Language Ltd
25 Dell Road
CC Speech and Language Ltd is a service that aims to develop you and/or your child's communication skills in every way possible.
I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics. I am also a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).
I have experience in working with pre-school and school age children with Autism, developmental delay, speech impairment, developmental verbal dyspraxia (DVD), second language speakers, developmental language disorder, and Selective Mutism.
I adopt an ABA approach to children with Autism and work alongside a BCBA registered consultant to develop a programme using the Verbal Behaviour Mapp. I also use other resources to develop parent's confidence in developing their child's social interaction skills.
For children with Selective Mutism, I use the Maggie Johnson resource manual and have links with specialists in this area. I have worked with preschoolers and school age children with SM both low profile and high profile.
I also have a particular interest in working with EAL families who may or may not have additional SLCN.
Training, qualifications & experience
BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy from Reading University (2011)
English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from ITC International, Prague (2008)
BA (Hons) in Linguistics from Nottingham Trent University (2005)
I have specialist training in PECS, ABA and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for children who stammer.
My approach to therapy combines Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) principles with Speech and Language targets in order to reach a child's maximum potential. This is particularly beneficial for those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), as behaviour is often a large part of the therapeutic process.
Several areas are assessed: communication and play, language and literacy, social interaction and pragmatics, and participation (which may include Augmentative and Alternative Communication, AAC).
Short and long term aims are then set in collaboration with parents and if necessary, any other professionals including NHS SALT, teachers, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychology, and any other Independent consultants. Social interaction, participation, attention and listening, and behavioural aims are set separately to any learning aims (i.e. speech, language or literacy). I collaborate with the NHS, parents and educators to devise therapy that is functional and evidence-based. My sessions are tailored, flexible and fun.
I am a mother of a 4-year-old girl. I love seeing her develop in her own unique way, and I love helping other children do the same.
I charge £55 per hour (This includes mileage and travel time + planning time)
Initial Assessment £120
