Andy St John
I am trained in Lomilomi Massage and Thai Yoga Massage
Lomilomi is the traditional massage practice of Hawaii. The practitioner uses long flowing strokes that go from head to toe in a continuous, rhythmic movement massaging both the top and the underside of the body.
People say the experience is like the rhythmic breaking of warm, nurturing waves over the body.
Thai yoga massage is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures.
The receiver is positioned in a variety of positions during the course of the massage and the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked combined with deep static and rhythmic pressures.
I draw on the different massage I have learnt, particularly the long flowing strokes of Lomilomi and the deep pressures and stretches of Thai massage, to create my own particular practice.
For me massage is a creative journey. I use the different strokes and pressures to carry us to a space where the body can be soft and open and the imagination and the spirit can feel free. It is a space in which to dream and to heal.
