Thai Massage Training Scotland offers a unique opportunity to train for a diploma in authentic Thai Yoga Massage in Glasgow, taught by trained teachers who apprenticed with masters from the temples of Northern Thailand. Upon successful completion of the course you will be competent to give professional level Thai yoga massage and you will be able to secure professional insurance to practice.
In simple stages, you will be shown how to apply a wide repertoire of techniques, ranging from gentle palm and thumb pressure using your body weight effectively, to applying passive stretches and yoga poses to your client confidently. You will have plenty of supervised practice time and will learn about the theory of this ancient healing art; the sen energy lines, breathing and meditation techniques, and the historical context of the therapy.
Traditional Thai yoga massage is a dynamic healing art involving massage techniques, gentle palm and thumb pressure, and passive applied stretches that resemble the poses of yoga. The receiver wears loose clothing. Originally it was practised by monks at the temple, and is a spiritual practice which stems back to the times of Buddha and before. The massage techniques are applied as a moving meditation of metta (loving kindness). It is a truly rewarding experience which leaves both giver and receiver more stretched, relaxed and in balance. Lucy Trend is a teacher level member of the register of the Shiatsu Society MRSS(T) and a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC – the Department of Health recommended regulatory body). Lucy has been practicing and teaching in Glasgow since 1997. Her background is in dance performance and movement therapy. She qualified as a shiatsu therapist in Montreal, Canada in 1996 and since then has been committed to continuing professional development. She has trained with Thai masters in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand since the year 2000.
Maria Hawkins teaches on several of our courses. She is a Thai massage, shiatsu and holistic massage therapist, and she also has a catering business for Yoga retreats. Maria studied shiatsu and Thai massage with Lucy and also went to Thai massage circus in Laos in 2014. Lucy and Maria have been working together since 2008 and are known for their immense knowledge, but also for their sense of fun and humour in class.
