What is group sound healing or gong bath meditation?
It is like a very deep and lasting massage using sound frequency and vibration. No effort is required and we keep our clothes on. Sandira provides the sacred sounds and our body takes what it requires, filtering out the sounds it is already in harmony with or does not need. Sandira plays complex harmonics and sometimes primal overtone singing to help us reach a much deeper level of consciousness, light trance, or deep meditation where healing can occur. We drop our day to day thinking and delve into our subconscious, perhaps releasing old blocked emotions and physical trauma locked at a cellular level. Sometimes we will feel aches and pains as the sound vibration unblocks the energy paths and releases. All of this passes as we drop deeper into relaxation.
The most obvious result of this sound meditation is we will feel more relaxed, calm and de-stressed. The healing will continue for the next three days as we assimilate the effect of the sounds played, so we are asked to drink more water than usual and to watch our emotions as they are released.
Sound healing works on many levels, physical, mental and emotional, on both an energetic and spiritual level. When we let go of our controller mind, our body totally relaxes and at that point, the body begins to heal itself. We drop our resistance and allow. This is when we can connect with our true selves, in alignment within. Yin and yang in balance. Some guests have experienced journeying out into the stars, others meeting Horus and Isis, or just sinking into the floor with total relaxation.
It’s a very personal experience and the more we do it, the more we can hold these frequencies, staying in balance and holding our centre in harmony, for longer. We normally lay on the floor on a yoga mat in whatever way is most comfortable for us. Covered in a blanket. Bring a face mask to block out the light if you have one. Comfy and cosy, ready to become one with all that is.
