Yogalates – the new exercise craze

Two types of exercise for the price of one.

It seems that nowadays one type of exercise just isn’t cutting the mustard, and fitness experts are continually mixing and matching techniques and practices from a variety of sport and exercise activities in order to fully maximise the benefits.

Zumba for example, mashes up the most beneficial elements of both Latin dance and body pump/exercise classes; whilst Boxercise combines boxing moves with that of a traditional exercise class.

The latest fitness combo is known as Yogalates, which is a blend of elements from both Yoga and Pilates.

The Yoga elements focus on making the body supple whilst aligning the body with the breath, whilst the Pilates moves are there for toning and to help you to develop core strength.

Whilst Yogalates has been around for a few years now, it has only recently started to become more popular and readily available in the UK.

Both Yoga and Pilates are fantastic forms of exercise as well as being good for your spiritual well-being – however with that said, neither are particularly good solutions when it comes to aiding weight-loss.

When combined however, both activities can aid a healthy weight management plan, helping individuals to build strength and increase flexibility, toning and balance. It is also said to be great for mothers who are trying to shed their post baby weight and tone up once again.
