In a recent study of ninety infants, it was revealed that the ancient Chinese medicine technique – acupuncture, could be an effective way of reducing colic in infants.
The study involved dividing the infants into two groups, one of which received acupuncture and the other of whom did not. Results showed that babies who received acupuncture treatment twice a week for six weeks, cried for shorter periods of time and with less intensity than those who did not receive acupuncture.
Needles used in the trial were extremely fine, causing minimal pain and were inserted into the soft and fleshy part of the infant’s hands between the thumb and forefinger.
