Don’t start a new project in the summer
Emma explains that being tuned into the seasons is an important factor in Chinese medicine. In Chinese medicine the summer is seen as a time to be less tied down by work commitments and instead a time of spontaneity and openness that should be spent with friends and family.
Visit a herbalist
Emma pays regular visits to her herbalist, particularly around summer when she needs help with her hay fever. She recommends drinking nettle tea which is said to be great for allergies. Buy it in the loose tea form and make it in a pot to drink throughout the day.
Clean with natural products
Instead of using lots of harsh and artificial chemicals try some age old tried and tested cleaning solutions such as cider vinegar diluted in warm water for cleaning the windows.
Drink water in the morning
Staying hydrated with water throughout the day is important but Emma pays particular attention to her morning routine of drinking hot water and lemon to improve liver function.
Eat seasonal produce
Emma has a fresh box of fruit and veg delivered so that she is challenged to cook with whatever turns up. Abel and cole offer a great selection of organic food boxes from small scale farmers.
Emma Cannon’s recently released book ‘You and Your Bump’ is available from Amazon.
